Remix the Page: Youth Art Inspired by Black Literature
Leading up to the festival, young artists ages 9–18 will participate in a series of hands-on art workshops where they create original artwork inspired by books by Black authors.
Using mixed media, collage, upcycled materials, and wearable art, youth will reimagine the stories that inspire them.
The finished works will be featured in the Remix the Page Youth Art Exhibit during Family Day at the Black Lit Festival.
This program provides young people with the opportunity to:
Engage creatively with Black literature
Explore artistic expression through hands-on workshops
Share their work publicly in a community exhibit
Participate in a cultural event celebrating storytelling and creativity
All youth participants will receive:
A meal during the workshop
A participation prize at the festival
The opportunity to exhibit their artwork
The ability to keep their artwork after the exhibit
Sponsors help make these workshops possible.
